A professionally built website costs €890 to €5,000 as a one-off when a freelancer or an agency builds it, plus roughly €15 to €70 a month for domain, hosting and upkeep. Our own fixed prices run from €890 to €2,890, and the site goes live in four days.
That is the short answer. The long one explains why the same website gets three different quotes from three providers, and how to tell which of them is fair.
The three usual routes, side by side
There are only three ways to get a website. They differ less in the result than in who does the work and who carries the risk.
| Route | One-off | Per month | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Build it yourself on a site builder | €0 | €10 to €50 | Anyone with time to spare who is happy with a ready-made template |
| Freelancer billed by the hour | €1,500 to €6,000 | €15 to €60 | Open-ended projects where the final figure only emerges at the end |
| Agency at a fixed price | €890 to €2,890 | €19 to €69 | Small businesses that want to know the final number before work starts |
A site builder is not free, it just moves the cost: you pay with your own hours and end up with a site that looks like a thousand others. For a business that needs to be found and trusted, that is rarely the cheapest maths.
What a website costs with us: the actual numbers
We do not bill by the hour. You get a fixed price up front and you know what is in it. These three packages cover almost every small business:
| Package | Fixed price | Upkeep | Scope | Delivery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | €890 | €19/month | 3 to 5 pages, mobile optimised, SEO basics, contact form, imprint and privacy policy | 4 days |
| Business | €1,690 | €39/month | Everything in Starter, plus multiple languages, chatbot, Google Business profile, blog, up to 8 pages | 4 days |
| Pro | €2,890 | €69/month | Everything in Business, plus commission-free online booking, dynamic content, a trained AI assistant | about 1 week |
All prices are net of VAT. Upkeep is optional and covers hosting, SSL, updates and small edits. If you would rather not take it, you keep the site and host it yourself.
Which costs stay with you every month?
A website is not a piece of furniture you buy once and leave standing. These items recur no matter who built it:
- Domain: €5 to €20 a year, depending on the extension.
- Hosting: €5 to €25 a month. Included in our upkeep packages.
- SSL certificate: €0 to €50 a year. Included with us, because without HTTPS the browser warns your visitors.
- Legal texts: €0 to €150 a year if you subscribe to a service that keeps imprint and privacy texts current.
- Maintenance and updates: €19 to €69 a month if someone else is to handle them.
Do everything yourself and you land at roughly €15 a month. Hand over hosting, updates, security and small edits and you are at €19 to €69 a month. Beyond that there is usually nothing.
Why hourly rates often end up costing more
With hourly billing nobody knows the final total, not even the provider. Every question, every revision round and every extra wish lengthens the invoice. That is not dishonest, but it moves the entire risk onto you.
With a fixed price the risk sits with the provider. If we misjudge the effort, that is our problem and not yours. Which is why we take the time to pin down the scope first, and why every package spells out what is not included.
The most expensive website is the one that is still not live after eight weeks while the invoice keeps running.
What actually drives the price
It is not the looks that make a site expensive, it is what happens underneath. These five points move the number most:
- Number of pages. Five pages go up quickly, thirty do not. Each page needs text, images, structure and a job to do.
- Languages. Every extra language doubles the content, the upkeep and the proofreading. If you are going multilingual, set it up properly from day one.
- Features. A contact form is simple. Table-plan bookings, customer accounts or a shop are projects in their own right.
- Content. When text and photos are missing, most of the work has yet to begin. Bringing good content is the biggest saving there is.
- Special requests. Custom animation, bespoke type or connections to your existing systems are all doable, but they are not in the base price.
Do I need a website or a shop?
One question settles it: do you sell online? If not, a website is enough and you are looking at €890 to €2,890. If you do, you need a shop, and that is a different job: products, categories, payment, shipping and legal texts. Our fixed prices for that start at €1,500, whether we build from scratch or migrate you off an old system.
You do not have to pay it all at once
The most common reason a site never gets built is not the price but the timing: the amount looks large because it seems due in one go. It does not have to be.
- Interest-free monthly instalments: up to 24 payments via Stripe, no interest and no surcharge. You pay nothing up front, we start building immediately, and the design becomes yours at the end of the term.
- PayPal or Klarna: where available, 3 to 24 instalments depending on the country. You see the exact terms at checkout.
- All at once: with a 5 % early-payment discount. On the Starter package that is €845.50 instead of €890.
Either way your site gets built in full. How you pay changes neither the scope nor the delivery date.
How to spot a fair quote
- The price is fixed before the project, not after it.
- The quote says explicitly what is not included.
- There is a delivery date, not a phrase like “as soon as we get to it”.
- The site belongs to you, domain and logins included.
- Running costs are itemised rather than buried in one lump line.
Want a real number for your project? Tell us briefly what you do and what the site needs to handle. We will name a fixed price and build you a free preview first, so you can see what you are getting.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a simple website for a small business cost?
With us, €890 as a one-off for the Starter package: 3 to 5 pages, mobile optimised, SEO basics, contact form, imprint and privacy policy. Upkeep is optional at €19 a month and covers hosting, SSL, updates and small edits. All prices are net of VAT.
Why do some agencies charge €10,000 for a website?
Because they are building something else: many pages, custom development, connections to inventory or CRM systems, their own photo production and long concept phases. A small business with 3 to 8 pages rarely needs that. What matters is that the scope matches the price and both are agreed in writing beforehand.
What does a finished website cost per month?
Between €15 and €70. Manage the domain and hosting yourself and roughly €15 a month covers it. Hand over hosting, SSL, updates, security and small edits and you pay €19, €39 or €69 a month with us, depending on the package.
Do I really own the website in the end?
Yes. At a fixed price everything is yours from handover: design, content, domain and logins. If you pay in instalments, the design transfers to you at the end of the term of up to 24 months. There is no lock-in after that.
How long until the website is live?
Starter and Business go live in 4 days, Pro in about a week. That assumes text, images and logo are ready. Missing content extends the date, not the price.
