Etsy is the fastest way to sell online without building your own reach: millions of buyers are already there. The price for that is competition: your listings have to be clean, findable and trustworthy.
A listing that gets found
Etsy is a search engine for products. Every listing lives on the right terms in the right places:
- Title: describe concretely what it is. Don't be poetic; write the way buyers search.
- Tags: use all 13 tags. Think in search phrases (“handmade ceramic mug”), not single words.
- Photos: at least five, bright and sharp. The first photo decides the click.
- Description: dimensions, material, care, delivery time. Answer questions before they're asked.
Shipping profiles: set up once, use forever
Instead of entering shipping anew for every product, you set up shipping profiles. A profile bundles country of origin, processing time and prices per destination region. You then assign it to each matching product with one click.
- Define your processing time honestly, because late deliveries cost you reviews.
- Set prices separately for domestic, EU and worldwide.
- Where possible, add shipping upgrades (express) as an option.
- Enable free shipping where the margin allows; Etsy favours such listings.
Shipment tracking and reviews
Always upload a tracking number. Etsy then notifies the buyer automatically, and you're protected in case of disputes. On-time delivery plus tracking is the most direct path to five-star reviews, and on Etsy, reviews are hard cash.
