Shopify Shipping and Order Tracking: Zones, Carriers and Auto-Tracking Done Right

All articles

Nothing kills a purchase faster than unclear shipping costs at checkout, and nothing generates more “Where's my order?” messages than missing tracking. Both can be solved cleanly in Shopify.

Shipping zones and prices

Shopify groups countries into shipping zones. For each zone you define how the price is calculated:

  • Flat rate: a fixed price per order, simple and transparent.
  • By weight: tiered by parcel weight, which is fair when products differ a lot.
  • Free above a threshold: “free shipping from €50” is a proven way to grow bigger baskets.

Connecting carriers: DHL, DPD, Hermes

Through apps (e.g. DHL or DPD integrations) you create shipping labels directly from Shopify and can (depending on your plan) even show the carrier's live prices at checkout. That saves manually typing out addresses and reduces errors.

  1. Install the carrier app and connect your business account.
  2. Store your sender address, default parcel and returns settings.
  3. Run through label creation with a test order.

Automatic shipment tracking

As soon as you mark an order as shipped with a tracking number, Shopify automatically sends a shipping confirmation with a link. The customer sees the status themselves, which significantly lowers support requests and builds trust.

Tip: enable Shopify's shipping notifications and adapt the email templates to your design. A beautiful, clear shipping email is part of the brand experience.

Clear shipping costs before payment and automatic tracking after are two of the most effective levers against abandoned purchases.

We connect your carriers, set up zones and prices and test the complete shipping flow until the first label prints cleanly.
